Day Twelve: City of Wonder

Betelehemu
 (Yoruba/Nigeria)

We rejoice for we have a trustworthy father
We rejoice for we have a dependable father

Where was Jesus born?
Where was he born?

Bethlehem, city of wonder
That is where Father was born

Praise, praise, be to Him
We thank you, today
Gracious Father

The iconic village of Bethlehem as the birthplace of Jesus is an important symbol in every culture. Jesus’ birth in such a humble place transformed it into a city of wonder. Even more important is the hope that emerges in us because someone so powerful, so miraculous came from a small insignificant village. We can celebrate because when Jesus is born in us, he transforms us and changes our world.

“But you, O Bethlehem of Ephrathah,
who are one of the little clans of Judah,
from you shall come forth for me
one who is to rule in Israel,
whose origin is from of old,
from ancient days.” Micah 5:1

Prayer Prompt: Think about the miraculous “little things” you’ve seen or experienced. Give thanks for their transformative power.

  1. When I clicked on the link, I got Day 11. But when I clicked on the picture, I got day 12. (Just thought I should let you know.)
I am enjoying the diversity of the music and the Advent thoughts.
