Day Twenty-Six: Manger Poor

The Snow Lay on the Ground
(United Kingdom)

The snow lay on the ground,
The stars shone bright,
When Christ our Lord was born
On Christmas night.
Venite adoremus Dominum.
Venite adoremus Dominum.

And thus that manger poor
Became a throne;
For He Whom Mary bore
Was God the Son.
O come, then, let us join The heavenly host,
To praise the Father, Son, And Holy Ghost.

The transformation of the world began in a stable as the “manger poor” was transformed into a throne when the Ruler of the Universe rested there. The shepherds were called to worship but it was more like a call to join a revolution that began when God entered the world. That revolution continues in and through us. We should expect that the words of the prophet will be made true as long as we are committed to giving birth to the revolutionary justice of God.

“Every valley shall be lifted up,
and every mountain and hill be made low;
the uneven ground shall become level,
and the rough places a plain.” Isaiah 40:4

Prayer Prompt: How is the Spirit calling you to worship? What is your part in God’s revolutionary movement?
